Beer & Cheese: aka The Fungus & Mold Tasting

ABOUT ABOUT

Fungus, mold, and bacteria can make you really sick, but beer yeast is a fungus and many of the tastiest, complex cheeses derive flavor from mold and aroma from bacteria -- the same ingredient that makes sour beers sour. Chris Anderson, host of Outsider Classroom, will lead guests through a beer and cheese tasting like no other. While guests taste five delicious artisanal cheeses expertly paired with five finely crafted brews, Stephanie Wester, a biology teacher turned Cincy's most respected cheese monger, Mary Ellen Finnegan, a biochemist at P&G and certified beer judge, and Dr. Senu Apewokin, MD, a fungi expert and professor at UC will provide fun, approachable explanations for why you enjoy some flavors despite yourself, and why certain beers and cheeses pair so well. You'll have a blast and gain an understanding of why beer and cheese make a much better team than beer and wine (although we like that too.) Includes 5 cheese and 5 beer tastings. Lasts approx. 60 minutes.

5:00PM, June 4, 2022 at Urban Artifact Brewery, 1660 Blue Rock St., Cinti. OH 45223
